GREETINGS!
Welcome back to the digital pages of another North Platte High School Newsletter! It's March, spring time is nearly here, and we are very close to the 4th quarter! Be supportive in encouraging your kids to finish the year strong so they can go into the summer knowing they are well on their way to be career and college ready! Lots of great things happening in Bulldog Country that we're excited to share in this publication, but as always be sure to check out the district website nppsd.org for up-to-the-minute updates!
COUNSELORS' CORNER!
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year-
Registration for next year’s classes is happening now! School counselors are visiting with students about choosing courses for next year. We encourage students to have a conversation with parents, teachers and guidance counselors about class selections and educational planning. It is important to understand the classes being selected so please investigate with counselors, teachers and the course description book. Individual appointments are welcomed.
Reminder to all college bound seniors… get your FAFSA applications completed as soon as possible.
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation Scholarships are available at http://midnebraskafoundation.org/ and are due by Tuesday, March 8th.
Senior Awards Night will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 7:30pm in the Performing Arts Center. At this time, it is open to the public. If you receive a scholarship, please notify Mrs. Schumacher in the Counselor’s Office or call her at 535-7105, option 4, with the exact name and amount of the scholarship, or bring a copy of the scholarship confirmation letter to her. This information is needed no later than Friday, April 8th so the senior student can be recognized at Senior Awards Night and in the commencement program.
Graduation practice date and time will be announced as we near graduation. Students MUST plan to attend practice if they wish to participate in the commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 15th @ 2:00pm. A sheet of instructions and rain tickets will be sent home with the graduating senior, along with their cap and gown, which will be distributed at the end of graduation practice. If you have a senior student graduating in May, and have NOT ordered a cap and gown, you need to do this as soon as possible online at midwestgrads.com.
Undergraduate Awards Night will be held Wednesday, April 27th @ 7:30pm in the Performing Arts Center. More information to come.

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT 5K RUN!
Light Up the Night 5k Run is sponsored by NebraskaLand Band and hosted by NPHS Student Council.
BULLDOG TIME QUIZ BOWL!
The Bulldog Time Team Competitions just finished up with their Quiz Bowl Tournament. Mr. Cooper's Koopa Troopa defeated Mr. Stevens's stars to claim the first team title. The next Bulldog Time Competition will be a Mario Kart tournament which started on March 24th. This competition includes 183 9th - 12 grade students. Here are the team standings:
EUROPE TRIP!
Tamina Hartman and Sandra Mejia are organizing a trip to Europe in June 2023. We will travel throughout various parts of France and Spain. This is a great opportunity to see new places and practice speaking another language!
There will be an informational meeting on March 16th at 6:30pm in room 2308 at the high school. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Hartman or Mejia.
FRENCH CLASS!
The World Language Department is proud to announce a new language offering of French, levels 1 and 2, for next year; the 2022-2023 school year. Please see your counselor if you are interested.

Auditions are complete, the cast has been chosen, and rehearsals are underway for this entertaining and heartfelt musical! From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. Don’t miss your chance to see this show that is perfect for the whole family! TECHNOLOGY CLASSES!
Mr. Petersen's technology classes are winding down and getting ready for final projects. Graphic Design students have learned elements of photography and have been practicing techniques for creative photo manipulations and compositing using Adobe Photoshop. Students are finishing up their compositing projects and will finish with advanced animation effects with Photoshop. IT Fundamental students are learning how to code, and are creating apps for mobile devices. Students will finish the term by designing an app for a purpose of their choice. Web design students have finished learning the basics of HTML and CSS. Students have even been able to incorporate a some JavaScript elements to page designs. The class has just started planning their final website that will be published online that demonstrates learning from an entire term of web design.
Quarter 4 means new classes, and these course offerings will be Computer Applications 2 (Learning how to use Microsoft Office in a variety of ways, and is offered as dual credit through MPCC), Advanced Graphic Design (We will be learning advanced techniques in digital design including Adobe Illustrator, Basic Animations, and even creating a large-scale project of the students' choice), and Web 2 (We learn the features of Adobe DreamWeaver and create a variety of responsive, interactive pages. This class is also offered as dual credit through MPCC).
